Brake servos

Having discovered the servo on my scimitar is pooped and i new one from Graham Walker (scimitar specialist) is £160, im wondering is this a lot of money and does anywhere do them cheaper. Im basically looking for a stand alone servo where the pipe goes from the master cylinder into the servo and out the other side. If that makes sense.cheers for any help, Jon

You could try Clive at Manvers Triumph, if I remember correctly the Scimitar is the same as the TR6 set up, I bought a servo from him recently, sensibly priced.

They are also usefull for Herald metalastic or polly bushes.

If I recall from my Scimitar days there are two types, One can be reconditioned and one can't.

Maybe yours is the type that can be repaired?

If not then the solution was to replace with an aftermarket servo which could be plumbed in in a similar position to the original.

I notice that europa sell one for £232 so the £160 doesn't sound too bad to me.

Cheers

Mark

If it is a Lockheed servo they are easy to rebuild, Girling ones are much more difficult.

You can use any Lockheed or Girling remote relay type servo

Rootes Arrow range (Hillman Hunter......) are a good source they have the Lockheed type.

Have a feeling car builder solutions do one? Can't remember how much tho'

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Its the early Girling ones that can be repaired -- but it requires care.

Even the later Girling types the hydrualic bits can be fixed but the vacumm side is a sealed unit.

Lockkheed remote servos can be got for 115 pounds new.
