emissions.

Second fail on emissions, I have a r1 on carbs although I think the carbs have been upgraded.
Any advice on how to get a pass.

post about -how- it failed!

mine took some blumming doing.. passed second time round but had to learn a heck of a lot in a short space of time to work out what/why/how to fix it.

are you high on CO?
high on HC?
High or low in Lambda?

I started with HUGELY over on HC - lean misfire meant dumping unburned fuel into exhaust.
once that was fixed I was high on CO..
That suggested the Catalytic converter was past its best.
once a new cat was fitted, Lambda was out (high = either running too lean or a leak in the exhaust)
found a tiny leak, fixed that, passed!

so thats all 3 values catered for, what did you fail on?

(edit) looking at photo archive, you havent got a rubber hose attached to the rear carb , so that suggests either youve didtched the AIS system or you have a 4xv. either way, thats a good sign... the AIS system pumps air into the exhaust to burn HC's to improve emissions, but also seems to give a false lambda reading.

Disclaimer, i am no mechanic or carbs/emissions expert, take the above with a large pinch of salt!
