Engine Weight?

Anyone know the weight of a Jaguar 4L straight 6, compared to a Zetec or Pinto??

I have the chance of one thats still running in the car and its FREE!!

Its an alloy engine with all ancillaries attached.

How heavy??

Steve

Based on this site (http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/engineweights.html), it looks like the jag engine is about 150 lbs heavier.

Jaguar AJ6 4.0L : 531lbs
Jaguar 3.8 six : 592 lbs
Jaguar 4.2 six : 605 lbs

Wow, that seems really heavy..

I beleive the aj16 is a bit lighter and if you really want power, the ajv8 is quite a bit lighter

Yeah, but the L6 was offered for free... that's pretty hard to beat when comparing Hp-per-pound..

Pretty easy to beat though when you compare Hp-per-lb

Its free to me, I have the chance of teh whole car but I've know where to put it so my last chance is to rip the engine and box out and keep it for my next project...

While you have the chance take axles and running gear these are used for some Cobra kits, worth selling on.

531lb = 240 kg. Its probably worth more for its scrap metal value than as an engine.

How much Hp? 220 or so? It's not that bad.. Plus saying your car is Jaguar powered just sounds a lot sexier than saying it is Ford or Vauxhall or Toyota powered.. That ought to count for something, right? ....right?
