Sierra Front Brakes

Does any one out there know the exact weight difference of the sierra front calipers and vented discs over the wilwood calipers and single disc.
Just weighed my new 15" Team Dymamics with rubber against my old 17 "(now for sale )wolfrace octanes, weight save of 8.8kg. Thats 2.2kg/wheel, thought it may have been more, but it's a start.

Joe, we swapped our Sierra vented front discs and calipers for Hi-spec lightened solid discs and calipers. The Hi-specs are slightly lighter than the Wilwoods and we saved 7kg per side. 14kg in total and it's noticeable too. Steering is much lighter and more direct.

Phil

PS, Another 14kg worth of pies!!

I swapped standard vented sierra disks and calipers to the willwood items with a solid disk (drilled and grooved) .The disk weighed the same as the sierra item, but the calipers weighed in at around 2 - 2.5 Kg lighter per side (all mountings acounted for). The MNR/Raceleda setup saves much more weight as the disk bell is much shallower along with the saving in the uprights hubs etc (I will be changing to this setup soon (£700 choke choke)).

so a saving of approx 5 kg plus the 8.8 kg for wheels = 13.8kg. happy with that, now wheres my credit card gone.

So does anyone know the overall unsprung weight advantage i would now have, consider my car weighed in at 500kg wet before and assume it to be 486 ish when converted.

You got your heart set on the Wilwoods?

Currently working on a price for the Hi Specs for myself to see if they are cheaper. Had them on my Ka and they were a nice bit of kit.

Well if you lay off the pies then there is a weight saving in itself!

Will pm you the price when I get it. Are the discs on the wilwood kit a factory replacement or only available from wilwood/rally design?
