CDS 18mm i.d. 3mm wall thickness tube

Any idea where I can get some CDS tube for a steering downlink extension?

18mm i.d. and ~3mm wall thickness.

I'd prefer not to spend £25 delivery for 2ft of tube. So anywhere local to Oxford?

Happy to pay if anyone has a spare bit

Matt

why does it need to be cds?

seems like overkill to me, and i'd imagine none of the kit manufacturers use it. i know MK don't.

good luck finding some if you really want cds though.

I only thought CDS as that was what has been suggested in the various topics on this (on this site).

From what you are saying this is impossible to get, so I will lower my sights. To non-CDS.

I guess it still needs to be thick walled.

Hi I can probably get you a length of seamless schedule 80 tube 20NB, this has an id of 18.88mm and an od of 26.7mm, however this seems a little on the large side for a down link. I used 15NB schedule 80 seamless, which has an od of 21.3mm and an id of 13.84. I have some of this on the shelf that you can have for the cost of the postage (£10 max) if you want it (I bored it out at the ends to take a 16mm splined shaft that I then ring and plug welded in).

Thanks Digger,

I was planning to slip it over the two halves of the Sierra downlink. These are 18mm o.d. once the nasty bulges are removed.

As you say the big stuff is too big. And I don't fancy filing the diameter down by 2mm. So I guess I will try to find something like 7/8 (22.64mm) in 2.64mm wall thickness.

It exists on e-bay, but its too much.

I am sure this is overkill, but steering isn't something that I want to have to worry about down the line.

Thanks again,

Matt
