White smoke from a turbo deisel
Hello all
Do any of you guy's know what this problem could be?
My father has a Kia Sedona people carrier automatic 2.9 turbo deisel.
He is driving along all is fine and then he accelerates to overtake and there is a loss in power and clouds of white smoke coming out of the
exhaust.
Pulls over and stops engine starts ticks over ok sounds as normal and shows no signs of fluid loss either water or oil and no cross contamination
between the two.
It has lost power and smokes and thats it.
Green flag came and took it to the local garage for them to give there opinion on Monday.
I have my own opinion that the turbo is dead and is passing oil over the seals.
Any ideas would be great

also agree, check the turbine on the intake side to see if its collapsed.

i would check the intercooler pipes aswell just incase one is split or has fell off

White smoke and no coolant loss, probably running seriously rich and the white smoke
is unburnt diesel.
How's the fuel consumption ?

Hi there
The fuel consumption prior to this happening was 30 -35 mpg which was very good he doesnt drive very fast!!

That will be one verry expensive trip to your garage i think.

An injector is a likely the turbo --- easier to check the turbo first.
