Cam operated fuel pump replacement?

I have a peugeot 1.4 XS engine which uses a cam-operated fuel pump, is this a diaphragm type? I'm just wondering whether this could be removed, the hole covered, and then an electric fuel pump used instead. finding new gaskets and parts is a little tricky for it, and I'd have thought an electric pump would have been better anyway. Any thoughts or experience with this?
Thanks,
Matt

On a Peugeot, just fill the hole with Garlic.

Old minis had electric pumps, later A+ had mechanical If you have a return pipe you might have to block it off if your electric pump is pressure sensing cut off type.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

take out any moving parts, or just the drive bit, use some fuel pipe to link the now redundant in and out and use a Facet pump.

Euro car parts should be able to supply the mechanical pump for less than 20 quid.

PURFLUX 339545010 PETROL PUMP AX BX14late C15E . £18.69

Really not a good idea to fit and electrc pump without a safety cut off switch
