new project
Whilst I understand everyone has their favourites. I would be interested to hear any opinions on which bike engine would suit a road going mnr. I
would have circa £1500 - 1750 to spend. People have suggested maybe a zx10 Kawasaki or yamaha R1. Any ideas as I'm about to start spending !!!

ZX10R is by far the better engine...

Thinking outside the box, how about a Goldwing engine? 1600cc Shaft drive boxer with 120ish bhp, water cooled too
[runs for cover]
Cheers,
Raz
When thinking outside the box doesn't work any more, it's time to build a new box

I somehow hadn't imagined fitting a gold wing engine !! I will be fitting a quaife reverse box.
The R1 seems to be the more common or popular engine. i would like to apply the "once and well" principle and fit an interesting engine
from the off.
If anyones fitted a zx10 engine I would really like to know if there are any pitfalls/advantages to using this powerplant. I will be buying the MNR
wiring loom so installation should be the same for both (maybe not) . Without sounding condascending I would like to say thanks for all the helpful
advice I have been given over the last 24hrs or so !
Regards
Bob

Hi Bob,
Both Paul Fisher and BigRich have fitted and are running cars that have the ZX10R.
Paul started out by turboing his car, but it hasn't worked out quite to plan, so is now running a standard 2007 ZX10R in his MK SPecR.
BigRich is running a 2007 (might be 06?) engine and is more than happy with it!
The only real downfall to the ZX10R above and beyond all other modern injected engine is the fact that it is high geared, so you need to find a lower
ratio diff - these are relatively rare from a sierra donor nowadays, but the Freelander diff is a very good replacement. In fact it's a lot
better, but you have to have the Diff mounts made up to suit it.
Anyway, drop BigRich and Paul Fisher a U2U and I am sure that they would both be more than happy to help with their experiences!
Cheers,
Steve
