bad antenna Audi
Q: Hirschmann MCA 9
I have an Audi A4 with a combined roof atenna, (phone and radio)
The radio modus is not good.
I have measured:
- There is 12 V, it has negative ground.
- There is no connection between inner and outer core of the anttena wire to the radio.
- There is zero ohms from radio till feet of antenna.
- Removing Rod does influence!
Will the antenna foot died or have anyone a clue?

They are stick on connections for the combined Aeriel and rear de-mister, but I've never heard of a combine phone and radio, is that a factory
fitted phone?

Yes it's factory option.
I've looked, the windows are not connected.
They look like the old VW golf 16 V antenna on the rear of the car.

Have you tried cleaning the rod thread as a ristance change would affect one signal more than the the other

It's a standard fault that the antennafoot leaks and the amplifier inside corrodes...you need to switch the entire antenna...
(Did it 2005 on my 2002 Passat Wagon)

O nooooooooooo,
You could be right as there has been water in the interior-light which is right mounted under the antenna.
Costs?

Over here in Sweden it cost me about 85€ to get it done at the local carstereo shop. Didn't ask what the stealership wanted for it...

It is a common problem and theyr not cheap from the dealer. My normal arial for my passat the dealer wanted 54 quid plus vat trade price just for
the base so i hate to think how much a racey one like yours would be.
