Feelander diff conversion

Did a search and nobody seems to answer this question.

Is the Freelander diff bolted derectly onto the Sierra driveshafts input and output? or do I need the freelander side shafts, bearing carriers ect.

What is the most cost effective way to change a Sierra diff to lsd. To ship a complete diff to SA is expensive.

I would like to make my own rear uprights and controll arms. What is the distance from rim mounting flange to rim mounting flange that I have to maintain on a standard 7" diskbrake set up?

Identified it as a 7" diff because the top mount is 177mm accross????

Identified as a 7" diff because the crown wheel is 7" diameter.
The LSD part of the diff can be shipped on its own or any crown wheel and pinion set can be mounted on the LSD.
The setting up of a rebuilt diff requires some skill and knowledge. Setting up the backlash and making sure the tolerances are correct.

There has been a lot of debate about LSD on the road, if you are racing then yes the LSD is the way to go, if you are on the road most of the time then an LSD can on a roundabout/iland cause pushing on / understeer

My own chassis is bracketed for a Sierra diff but due to the ZX10R engine i will be using (and the cost of a 3.14:1 Sierra diff) I will also be converting to a Freelander diff.

I will keep the Sierra bearing carriers, brakes etc and have some hybrid driveshafts made up using Freelander inner flanges / joints connected to Sierra outer joints.

So I have to strip the diff to see if it is a 7" or 7.5" diff?

Who is the most reasonable for the crownwheel/Pinion combination change?

Does the ratio of the diff get changed? I am sitting with a 4.11 and would like to keep it.

Measure between the top mounts on the diff housing. They are wider on a 7.5" diff, roughly 7.5" as opposed to 7". There's a clue

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I have only one diff so how do I compare. Like stated the distance is 177 mm so is this a 7"

What about the rear axle distance - any info?
