Lower Wishbone Construction

Hello to you all,

Great site, keep up the good work.

I am building a locost car using the Chris Gibbs book, it may be me (and I apologise in advance if it is) but I cannot find the ball joint plate thickness for the lower wishbones. The plan dimensions are there and there is the reference PLATE 5, I don’t know if this means 5mm or not but I cannot see the side elevation? I also cannot find the side elevation for the plates anchor point on the jig. The plan dimensions are there but I do not know the depth of this anchor point and do not know if it is angled at 10 degrees same as the plate.

Any help or direction would be very much appreciated.

Best Regards

Rich

Haynes Roadster

Hi.

The lower wishbone plate is 5mm thick.

If you pop over to the Haynes roadster forum.

The latest book ammendments are in the announcments section.

The missing dimension you need is listed there.
Yes the achor point will give you the angle required.

Ronnie

I just remembered I have the ammendments on my PC.

4. Page 57 Figure 5.3 Two 50mm dimensions are incorrect, they should be 47mm.
5. Page 57 Figure 5.4 The support frame for the front lower wishbone support frame doesn’t
have the vertical height dimensions.
The lower end should be 10mm high and the upper end 18.5mm

I hope this helps.

Ronnie
