road tax
i have tried to tax my indy for the first time since sva and the tax form says you need an mot to get the tax , i was told you didnt need an mot for
the first 3 years , tried 2 post offices and both said i need an mot but other people on here said you dont need an mot as its registered in 2007.
Has anybody else had this problem or am i doing something wrong?
Cheers Des

I tried to tax online and it wouldn't let me. Went to the PO and they just crossed out the MOT requirement line as it "was obviously a
mistake for a car less than 3 years old"! It's worked twice so far... In fact, thinking about it, my tax runs out before the car is 3
years old, so presumably I could get another year's tax disc with no MOT??

I sent the correct payment, necessary form and completed V112 (exclusion from MOT) to my local DVLA office.
I also got the DVLA @ Swansea (by e-mail) to confirm I didnt need an MOT before 3 years were up and included a print-out of that e-mail....
Jobs a good'un....

Yes, but remember that doesn't absolve you of your legal responsibility to have a valid MOT once the vehicle is three years old.

I managed to get my 3 years in without an MOT, 1st year i took the V5 to the PO which states the date of 1st registration.
2nd year i managed to tax online.
3rd year online tax system wouldnt have it, so back to the PO armed with V5 again.
BUT
At the end of the day the price and time it takes for an MOT is probably worth the extra ££'s anyway, i mean how many times do you get an
opportunity to have an inspection all over the car and have the braking system checked properly.
I'm all for not giving the government any more money than i have to but i would like to drive a safe car as well, the price of an MOT must be
the best and cheapest check up you can get today.
