Shock mount in single shear - OK?

Hi chaps, just after opinions or even engineering facts on whether it's ok to mount my rear shocks on an M12 bolt in single shear, on the axle.

Damper Mountings

Westfield rear dampers are mounted onto the top of the rear upright by a 7/16"UNF (11mm) bolt in single shear, so I think you will be alright.

Use NEW bolts, preferably 12.9 rated capheads. How long are the bolts in question. I could probably post you a couple.

Yes its not a problem. Too early in the morning to be bothered to do the maths, but if you do a search I have posted figures for the yeild and UTS of various sizes of bolts in single and double shear over before.

Cheers,
David
