Tyre recommendations
I am considering upgrading the tyres on my car from the current Nankang crappy ones to something a bit more grippy and predictable.
I need practical tyres for all weathers, as I use my car all year round, rain or shine. So dont mention R888s, A048s etc as they are too expensive and
not really suitable.
Budget is £250 for the set.

You don't mention what size you're running.
If they are 15's say then you can get 195/50-15's in Goodyear Eagle F1's or Toyo T1-S's for about £35 a corner so £140 a set.

Ooops, typical, forget the vital bit of info.
Tyre size is 195/50 r 15
I basically want something thats grippy in the dry and reasonable in the wet. The current tyres are lethal.

yokohama a021's or a539's if theye for the kitcar or toyo t1r's if its for the tintop

I can recommend Yokohama A539 's........great on the Locost, in all weathers, and I keep it on the road all year round!
I now have them on my tin-top too! 
I don't know what size wheels you have, but you should get a set within your budget........

I know a couple of people who swear by Yokohama A539s. Supposedly good in the wet or dry, available in your size, and not too expensive.

I have 13 inch wheels and am going to fit AO21rs frm George Polley they supply them as a control tyre in 185/70/13 as a control tyre for stock cars
for about £40 each.

Go on! go for the 888's. All you have to do before you go from mine is pop a little burnout and you will be fine.

A 539s Got them on mine and they have wonderfully predictable characteristics in the wet! I have done more wet than dry miles so far

I just got a set of R888's for less than £240 inc' delivery from tyretraders.com

I paid £260 for my 888's (same size) all fitted and balanced etc.
Go on, you know it makes sense...

No, no, no. They are just too bad in the wet. I know I would soon throw the car off the road with them. I know they are fantastic in the dry though,
and they look very

Trouble is, to really exploit the handling of such a light car as any 7'esque roadster you really want some R888's or Yoko
A048R's.
You just have to be careful in the wet .... or even better - leave it in the garage in the wet!!
If you're determined to use it in all weathers, then A539's are the way to go. i've had them on 3 cars now and really can't
fault them!

Hi for road in all weathers as other have said the A539 as used on the locost racers. Although i am personally perfectly happy to race on the o48 in
all weathers. As per kit regulations. The RGB championship now have a wet 048 tyre dont know if that is available commercially or just as a special
for the RGB racers with there lighter cars.

I am fortunate to have a second set of very nice wheels and tyres purely for fun (track) and they are 048's...totally agree with Matt on
that....but compared with the A539's they do tend to wear quicker.....as they are a softer compound....
However as said in my previous post, A539's for all round use.......and if you only have the choice of 1 set of wheels and tyres it has to be
A539's.

I run uniroyal rainsport 1's on the tintop, heard good things about toyo t1r, and goodyear eagles.

Yes, the new tyres are for the GTS
Just how bad are A032/A048s in the wet. By the looks of the design they look very prone to aquaplaning, and serious lack of grip.

Not tried the 032's........the 048's ...very quick to get heat into so therefore they get nice and sticky...(much softer compound...wear
out quicker)......I really wouldn't want to use them on a wet road though......
As they are for the GTS, from my experience, and for 'all weathers', .....I would still recommend the A539's

Really wanted Toyo TR 1s as I already have them on my BMW 840 and love them.
But, they don't make em in 13" so yesterday I just ordered a set of 539s. through "Tyre Shopper". £ 192.00 for 4.

A032 and A048 arent available in 195/50r15 which is an arse. 205's wont fit under my front wings without some major mods.
So it looks like either R888's or A539's. I do now have a car suitable for wet weather use, so the GTS will see less of that from now
on.
