IF YOU'RE SELLING SOMETHING..........
Sorry to shout but it's starting to get silly....if you're selling something can you please tell us how much you want for it!!! - this
latest fad for posting wishy washy messages saying things like 'I'm just testing the water' or 'I've got no idea what
it's worth and I don't want to rip anyone off' are just getting annoying!!! - these things apparently for sale must be worth
something to the sellers or logically they would be offering them for free......so rather than make us waste everyones time playing the equivalent of
20 questions or similar for heavens sake tell us what that value is!!!! - if it's too much after all no one will buy it/them and you can either
think again or lower the price!!!!

Chill out, babe! What's the point in this thread? Sorry if I offended you by trying to get an idea of what my bodywork is worth. I have no idea
and I don't need to rush into selling it, by taking my time I can gauge interest and prices and myself and a buyer can get a good deal.
I've made one thread on the subject, all the posts on the matter are within that thread.

OK, and again this wasn't aimed at you in particular but if you'd have said I've got a full set of 2nd hand bodywork bodywork for
sale - £500 or near offer people would have known if they were in the ballpark of being able to afford what you want for it and could either have made
you a decent offer or just moved on to the next option - plus you may have already sold it rather than having people waste time guessing how much you
want for it.........
Otherwise I'm telling you now it's worth £50 and I'll have it off you....... no? - see my point??

I dont quite see whats wrong with a mate asking another mate what something is worth. Thats the problem with our beloved hobby - its very specialist
therefore normal market forces dont apply - other than ts worth what the buyer is prepared to pay.

Funny I’ve just finished writing my listing for my set of greengauges to go on ebay at the weekend and was thinking of posting link to ebay on here
with the words “ I have no idea what they are worth if anybody on here wants them make me an offer or get bidding”

If someone doesnt know what something is worth arent they just begging you to put in low but creditable bid to clinch the sale and bag a bargain.

Another forum that I visit has recently introduced some selling rules, heres an extract
General rules.
This is a FOR SALE forum, where you place items FOR SALE.
If something is offered for sale, it has a price. So tell us what it is.
Dont say "offers" or "bids" without giving a guide price. Its not cricket, it puts off buyers, and it encourages comments from
others. That makes more work for us, watching for "sh1t" happening and deleting offal from for sale
They also state that if you want to start a bidding war- put it on ebay
Food for thought?

As a possible customer for some stuff, if I don't see a price I'm not interested. Too much potential for hassle as far as I'm
concerned.
I'm sure other 'customers' have a similar view - a point for sellers to consider?

I must agree with David - If I don't see a price then I don't take it seriously.
It reminds me of my trip to Egypt (sort of) when all of the markets don't have prices displayed and when you ask how much an item is, they give
you a grossly inflated price so that you can barter them down to a realistic one ..... I hated that but it's deeply embedded in their culture so
when in Rome etc.
This is England so tell us how much you want for it!

I put a post up recently because I wasn't selling something, I genuinely wanted advice for a relative.
I did a search on ebay and on PH and found nothing similar so I thought I'd ask people who I thought would offer friendly advice.
So I know that your post wasn't directed just at me, but there isn't always an easy way to phrase certain things...

I have recently also posted asking for the value of my striker, however I can see the frustration if no price is displayed, o how about this idea:
If you dont know the price, put up a thread asking people how much the item is worth, but don't say its for sale, and then when you are pretty
sure of its value, wack it on for sale.
I don't see the harm in asking people what they think something is worth, but it is super annoying when you want to buy something and you are
presented with an "offers please"
Only a quick idea so no stick please!

If the item is for sale then I agree a price should be posted up. Saves a load of messing and also saves PMing people to find they want one billion
dollars for an old nut and bolt.
Just my opinion, not aimed at anyone, but it does make for a better selling/buying environment in a forum.

I have a fairly straightforward approach to all of this.
If I see something I want and there is a price and I can afford it, I will contact the seller.
If there is no price advertised, or offers, then I'm not interested. Some-one else can have it.
That's all, nothing complicated there surely ?
If you like doing it a different way, then fine.
When it comes to selling, I want it sold NOW.
I advertise it with a price - usually low - and I receive a U2U within 5 minutes - usually, then I get some paypal money in and sent it off, then we
can all get on instead of fecking about.
Again, not that tricky.

i agree with beddows ,if your selling and not sure how much its worth then ask a price for what its worth to you. if we're buying stuff then
most of us want to pay as little as possible or at least a bargain but when we want to sell anything we want the most we can get and arnt prepared to
put our bargains back on the market
