Lost keys for tin top

Hi right I am really hoping some one can help as I know that between everyone out there, there is nothing that you don’t know.

I have acquired a rover and was given a single key, unfortunately when I was starting the cylinder head I have found that I can not find the key.

Does anyone know if I can get a new key from anywhere or is that it change the locks, ignition barrel and ECU (as I am led to believe that it is matched to the key)

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance

Matt

What rover is it?? I think only the 75 is a chipped key??

The easiest way might be to buy a lock set from ebay or summit.

it will have an alarm,
you can get the alarm box reprogrammed
then just go buy an ignition barrel from scrap yard,
alarm box will come back with a remote,

Don't know if Rover keep a record of the key numbers like Ford and Volvo do but it may be worth ringing your local Rover dealer? If they do keep a record they may want proof of ownership and I.D. Could save a load of hassle.
