chaging cams

i have a 1.8 zetec from a mondeo, i have heard that i can put in 2l cams to up the power. is this right? if so is it a straight swop or do i have to chage other bits as well??

you can drop in the cams and followers out of the 2L. i have a set of 136 cams in the shed that i put in a 1.8 but i had them back out when i scraped the engine so they do fit.

Its only worth doing if you have the lower powered version of the 1.8L as there were 2 versions

Have a look under here if you are unsure of which version you have.

Yes its is a very noticable improvement, but if its a blacktop engine you'll need to reshim the followers.

Can you put 2L black top cams in a 1.8 silver top ?

Even if they physically fitted it wouldn't be a good idea. Cam profiles as designed to match the type of follower they are paired with, and the silver top has hydraulic followers where the black top has solid followers.

Yes, you need the larger throttle body and the appropriate ECU.
