New Car - My first drive and thoughts - 2

Had my first run out today. Got some last bits sorted then it pissed down. Waited a while and went out on wet roads into the peak district.

Bearing in mind that I was keeping things fairly calm it never put a wheel out of place. Did have an M3 try it on (inches off my rear) going up the Snake Pass but I lost him around the bends and I didn't think I was trying. Did 70 miles and it felt really good. Even rode over speed humps better than my tintop.

Pulls hard in all gears and is lightning quick when it hits the power band. Cant wait to get out in the dry.

Snake Pass - now that's a road to behold

Sounds like you've had a cracking day.

Adrian is using a 2006 R1.

Glad you had a good time, i always had a fun time in the wet, it's very tireing though as your concentrating so hard, wait until it's dry then give it some.

Thank's, Joe

I was being pretty carefull and kept the revs down (avoided 5 figures). Its quite civilised in top with 7000 revs at 70mph. Its a bit unhappy below 20 though; Feels like a caged wild cat.

Got a missfire on the way back that felt like fuel starvation. Pump sounded odd when I got back and there's a lot of poo in the pre-filter so I think thats it.

7000rpm at 70!!!!!

'kin in, is all I can say.

I thought mine was bad enough with 3250, though diff change should see that down to 1950

Enjoy the car as I don't suspect it'll be long before the mods start

Hmm I have a 3.62 in my V8 and its 2800 rpm for 70 Mph. Nice cruising speed, and at least 135 top whack. (6k Rpm is about 150 ish) I have not had it past 135, and doubt if it will pull 6K rpm in top gear.

Never the less it goes like stink. (on the track that is )

They've already started but rest assured none of them will involve a 8 or a V.

Nice to hear all went well and also nice to know you have enjoyed it.

My mate has a BMW 330CI coupe (i think not knowing much of BMW's). Its rapid for a 'normal' car and i was impressed with its ability to get to 155 that easily. So when he was behind me the other day and i was running the engine in he tried it on, to see him slip behind at a good pace was such a good feeling, he even told me he was pushing as hard as he could where i was taking it 'easy' due to me running the engine in so i didnt use all the revs.

Sorry about my spelling, im an engineer and only work in numbers.
