More power please captain

After buying one of THESE batterys, i've found it a little lacking in the cranking department, optimistic i know.

For around the same size does anyone know of a battery that will spin over a Zetec?

Ok, I have a Red Top 25 in mine which is about the same as yours and it spins the zetec over no problem.

I used throughout the build withoout an alternator and I've never had to charge it or seen it slow down.

Sure your wiring and starter are A OK??

Wiring is the same as for the crossflow, starter is an unknown, i may test it on the bench.

Cheers, the redtop has a little more capacity than mine, mine will crank for 4-5 sec. then really slow down.

if you get any heat in any wire then its capacity will slow down..

so it may look it is the battery but in fact it could be anything... do you notice a voltage drop..???

Tks

have you got good HD cables.

I was playing with a tiger loom for some one and the cable wasnt up to the job. It would crank 4~5 times then stop. And that was with a car battery.

From what everyone has said, looking more like starter/flywheel woes. i'll just pop out and contect the 307 to the car and see if it's any faster.

Cheers Dan.

Does the engine spin OK with plugs out? If not then your problems are bigger than just starter/flywheel

Ok, tested the starter system with from a jump start, same symptoms. Removed the starter and bench tested it with a Clarke 300 amp boost starter, stun over but didn't seems particually quick.

When i removed it it was pressed against the alloy section of my sump and i'm wondering if i'd causted the body to twist out of alignment, unlikely i know. looks like i'm after a wiring/poor earth problem.

I haven't tried removing all the plugs, just No.1, will try that in the morning.
