starter motor

My locost has a standard ford 1300 crossflow. has anyone fitted a pre-engaged starter motor if so what parts were used.

You need to change the ring gear as the pre engaged r/g has a different number of teeth. 110 for the inertia and 132 for the pre engaged

Hi Rusty,
Just read your comments on crossflow starters and thought you might be able to help. I've got 1300 gt crossflow and type two gearbox but no starter. I've just counted the flywheel teeth and appears to be 119 (might be 120 cos I used to be an English teacher not a maths one). Can't decide whether the teeth are chamfered or just worn. Any ideas which starter motor I should get? I'll try to get one at Newark if I know what to look for.
