Tilton Master Cyl Brakes

Twice now fluid goes all over the car instead of down the brake lines when trying to bleed them. Overnight, I had put a second brake line because the other one had leaked, and the reservoir emptied all over the car. What is going on?

The nut attaching the line to the master cylinder is tight. It is driving me crazy (as is nearly every step I try to take with this thing).

is it a banjo fitting?

do you have copper washers either side of the banjo?

your description's a bit vague.

A preflared line with a brass looking end (male) goes into the master cylinder. At this spot it leaks like a sieve. It is not a banjo fitting.

My descriptions may be vague because as with all things to do with this car, I don't know what I'm doing. I am flying IFR with no instruments, if you know what that means. This usually results in bad things.

Didn't work. Nothing new here. This is so frustrating. Obviously, I need some sort of adapter (again) - one that the parts suppliers won't know what I'm talking about.

or possibly the fitting is too short. Becoming tight before it seals the pipe to the cylinder.

a picture always help people come up with a sloution..

My guess too....can you see any thread left when you tighten it?

The line going into the master cylinder leaks fluid (all over the garage, because the reservoir emptied overnight) The threads are correct. 3/16" outward flare on line. This is supposedly what is required; except it doesn't work.

Shall have for you by tonight, when I return from paying for this car, otherwise known as "work".

If you use a standard 45 degree flare on a 37 degree AN fitting or vice versa, it will leak.

Can you explain that in English please? What is an AN fitting? What would a 45 degree thing look like versus a 37 degree? I'm not sure what it is I am supposed to check for nor how to check it.

To clarify: I bought a Tilton brake master cylinder. I bought preflared brake lines with brass-like ends on them. They fit the threads that go into the master cylinder. They leak. That is all I know. Sorry!

Sorted! I emailed Tilton, and they told me I needed to put an adaptor between the master cylinder and the flared line. I dug one out and voila. Thank you everyone for your kind advice. Sometimes, you just need to vent.
