On a Stuart Taylor chassis car......tested at Notts (who are great by the way in my experience)

Failed on:

Drivers side seat shoulder belt anchorages too low (very slightly, fixed by removing some foam from the bag-moulded seat!)

Passenger side seatbelt anchorages............complicated one, on the drivers side the dash lower rad. was 19mm, but on passenger side it was only 18mm. No prob says tester, you have no passenger seat so no problem. Then he noticed that there were belt anchorages welded in, so he could not pass it until either the dash was right or the belt anchorages had been made "inoperable" (which was qualified as bolt with no head welded in) I did this, but very carefully (i.e. reversibly!!) as was planning passenger seat in future!!

Dash radius, see above

The edge on the plate on the end of the metalastic bush holding the silencer on was too sharp, fixed by sandwiching a disc of mudflap material with rad dressed onto it between bush plate and bracket

(11) Silencer - Pipes under Bonnet. Will have to cover with Asbestos Wrap!
(12) Wires Behind Battery & Coil wires! Fix into place & cover!

Even if the Windows were in Perspex? Still have to have the safety markings on them! Like what's on the
Screen! and Door Windows! A Certificate & Clear sticker-transfer if possible!

this insistence on flipping lockwire on caliper bolts drives me MAD!!

I was all ready to argue at my SVA, but the tester never questioned that I had no lockwire on them! A LOT of production cars use loctite (all vauxhalls for example! ) and I certainly know of no modern cars that use lockwire these days, all use loctite to my knowledge. Hasten to add mine were indeed loctited

1. Radius issue on exhaust clamp - needs turning around so that bolt is towards the sill of the car.

2. Light on fog light switch coming on with side lights - needs to come on only when the fog lights are actually on. Easy re-wiring job.

3. Not possible to assess the state of the rear brake shoes due to the inspection hole in the back plate being obstructed by the Tiger uprights. Need to drill a new hole that is accessible and fit a rubber bung. On each side of course.
