Pinto to BEC

I have been weighing up the idea of switching to BEC power (dun dun duuuuunn!!)

Which engine though for reliable power? I would really love to have a supercharger too...

What I am after is to get an idea of cost? How much to go from running pinto to running BEC/supercharged BEC?

I am sure there are plenty that have done it with varying budgets, some previous stories would be good to go on, also if anyone can supply any links with more reading I would be most grateful!

Thanks!

I went Pinto to zx9, best move I ever made. It cost me just shy of a Grand all in all.
I did a bit of a build blogg on here, I will have a look for it.
It's funny you should think about supercharging . I was thinking of upgrading to zx10, but it crossed my mind about supercharging too, does anyone have a locost rough guess on cost of this and work involved, or would it be cheaper buying a bigger engine.
Brad.

Pinto to bike engine...... doing the work yourself budget £2K plus engine (minimum). Get someone else to do it - budget £3K plus engine.

This is roughly what it cost me going from a pinto to 2005 zx10r
Engine kit from yorkshire engines £ 1200
Cables for above £ 25
barnett clutch springs £ 25
3.38 diff ( had a 3.9 for the pinto ) £ 380 ( recon from mnr )
Engine cradle , gear linkeage and chassis mods to retain standard zx10 headers £ 500
Exhaust can £ 60
power commander £ 260
RR remap for power commander £250
Gipro gear indicator £ 90
Speedo Healer £ 100
prop adaptor £ 50
2 piece prop with centre bearing £160
silicon hose for cooling £ 60
New carbon mk dash £ 140
New mk bonnet ( pinto bonnet had holes for carbs and manifold ) £160

All adds upto £ 3460, not as bad as it sounds because i sold the pinto engine, diff , prop, carbs, smiths clocks, manifold and exhaust for about £ 1000 in total, you can also save a few quid on buying bits such as your power commander, speedo healer etc on ebay as and when they come along at the right price.

was worth every penny for the increased performance, after re mapping mine was 146 bhp at the wheels. I would leave the charger for now and just try a newish injected bike engine, it scared the shite out of me after the pinto !!
