No, they use the LVTA/IVA loophole, I believe... EU law says that where one member state (ie. the UK) has a low volume approval mechanism, other member states are obliged to accept that certification, even if they themselves don't operate a similar system.

See Second paragraph under section 2.

To my knowledge the Atom is not type-approved. Even if it was, it would be a small-series approval which requires only a very rudimentary impact test into a solid wall at 30mph. No dummies, and the pass criteria are based on steering column displacement only.

I would guess that the the actual impact speed was higher than that in the case above, but not by very much.

Sorry Sam, if you read my post above properly you would see I only now realised the car hit the kerb not the wall after seeing it on a proper size screen, and also I thought someone else said it hit the house at 75mph... I also did not realise due to just scanning quickly over the text that it was you posting on the thread otherwise I would not shown any interest in said thread.

Bye.

Our posts crossed, hence my reference to you almost busting your post count into double figures. Up to 11 now, eh?

Still, nice to see that you actually agree with me, once you'd bothered to look at the evidence properly.
