Hi guys daft question im going to do the starter motor reverse set up on my mk indy, and (40 inches ) has given me a link to a manafacturer of the gear that slips on between the prop and diff for the drive..

Which i will use but i was quite supprised at the cost of it £121 plus vat and delivery at a total of £156 delievred seemed a lot of money.. is there anywhere else i can try ????????

I wasnt that far off doing it in two steps. £56+postage for the gear from HPC and then a "homer" at a local machine shop was £45.

Measure many times...

I didn't like the MK ring gear, a bit of p***s poor engineering, the machined thinner part was only about 10mm deep and 3mm thick and simply trapped between the flanges
They may have redesigned it by now, if they have, ignore anything I said before
You can see it here

Yeah i seen it in the picture of there sales parts section thought it was a picture error not keen on the trapped in method at all, the one you have is better but twice the price to be fair as well....

Rob

p.s how thick is yours where its sandwiched between the diff and propshaft ?? do i need to shorten the prop any etc...

4mm but forms the spigot for the prop shaft, no way is it coming off.

Ordered one today from HPC

My spur gear arrived today from HPC spot on other than i had to drill the 4 holes for bolts to go through nice bit of kit though.. thanks 40 inches.. got starter sorted and copied your brackets and its in mock up as we speak...

Looks like i need to space the inner panels out a touch like...

Did you need longer bolts for the prop to diff fitting as mine will only be as long as the diff flange without poking through any..
